I met Curly in Montreal while doing street photography in the downtown area, accompanied by my daughter. We were at the end of our photo walk when this man approached us and asked me if I could help him out. I said yes and gave him a 2 dollar coin. I then asked him if I could take his picture. He said: "You like my curlies?", while pointing at his hair.
Émilie was very friendly when we started chatting. When I asked her if she was from Quebec City, she explained that she was from Madagascar and had only been in Canada for 21 days. We spoke in French since it was both our native language. I asked her what brought her to Canada and she replied that she wanted to experience another climate since she had always lived in Madagascar where it is always warm. I answered that she would certainly experience a different climate come winter.
